PURPOSE
The Purpose of this Blog is to serve as a resource for NCARB BIM Task Force. This Task force was established by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards to study the impact of Integrated Practice and Building Information Technology (“BIM”) on the Health Safety and Welfare of the Public.
RESOURCE
To the BIM TF, this platform is the resource enabling rapid and smooth exchange of information, available around the clock, whenever an Internet connection is available. To work this way we apply the integrated practice model and the distributed work environment to answer the charges, and achieve the goals of the BIM TF.
EXPERIMENT
This Blog is an Experiment. We are plowing new ground here. By creating this blog, we have the added benefit of saving considerable time and energy by providing resource library and links to critical reports and white papers. This saves printing, mailing and gives you instant access. We get to communicate without the clunky interface of standard email programs. It’s not intended to take the place of face-to-face meetings. The collegiality friendship and bonds made remain integral to the process. The meetings can be more productive, and more efficient, and more fun!
CONSERVATION
It is meant to save time, to conserve energy and human resources, most importantly to convert some travel time to family or personal time. It’s geared for accessibility and efficiency. Was there not the original promise that computerization would free us up some how? Think of it this way 10 years ago, they said “you can’t grade the ARE graphic exam by a computer” Now we roll out “Integrated ARE 4.0.”
THANKS!
Thank you for your, help expertise, and especially the time you give as members of this task force. The questions we ask, and the answers we provide impacts the practice of architecture, and the health safety and welfare of the public.
